The inaugural 12 Hours of Capital View Park went of early Sunday morning with close to 100 racers. The course was an 8-mile loop with approximately 700 feet of climbing per lap.
The trail consists mostly of winding singletrack, made up of Kentucky River mud. Trees, roots and, in the early laps, mudholes and course marking issues waited to take out some unsuspecting riders,
By lap two the course marking issues were resolved and by mid day the mud holes firmed up. Promoter, Troy Hearn (owner of Capital City Bikes in Frankfort) put on an enjoyable and quite affordable (25$ entry) race. There were wonderful volunteers and a cash payout to the top teams and solo riders.
