6 Hours in Frog Hollow Results

The temperatures where perfect and the course was packed and fast for the first annual 6 Hours in Frog Hollow held in hurricane UT on October 9. We had a fantastic turn out with 64 total entrants. All the racers seemed to be at top performance for the day. For many it was their first attempt at endurance racing, other were there to train for the 25 Hour event later this month.  A new course record was set for the fastest lap on the FROG HOLLOW course in the male category by Duff Johnson , racing for Skull Candy at 48:11. Tanya Swenson, racing for Cole Sports of Park City also beat Tiffany Pezzulo’s course record form 2009 by 11 seconds for a new course record of 58:35. Duff took the male solo category and Tanya Duo-Co-Ed.

Competition was tough in the solo categories, with 19 racers in the Solo Male division, 7 racers in the Solo Single Speed division, and 7 racers in the Solo Female division.  Duff Johnson beat second place finisher Brandon Firth, riding for  Rocky Mountain,  in the solo male category by only 2 minutes. Other top finishers in the solo categories were Paul Pilliteri  of Las Vegas with 5 laps in Single Speed division, beating David Kelsey by 13 minutes, and Erica Tingey, also from Las Vagas,  in the Solo Female division - a clear winner as the only female with 5 laps for the day.

FUN FUN FUN,,,,,lots of give-aways and great prizes were tossed out at the end of the day. Six people were awarded for dressing up and wearing a costume the whole race.. Erica Tingley was costumed as a fairy, Ali Knutson as a Bride, Chrystal Smith as a fairy in pink, and the OTE bootie girls in.. you guessed it.. bootie undies. They made everyone smile while racing..

So what’s next? The 25 Hours in Frog Hollow is just around the corner. Held over the fall back time change on November 6-7, this year is shaping up to be a fantastic event.  It may be a small grass roots event, but the racer line up this year will see some top names in endurance racing.  Among the legendary names are Lynda Walenfels, solo singlespeed national champion and endurance race coach, Dave Harris, also holds a national single speed championship, and Jill Homer, author of Ghost Trails and who holds the female record for the Tour Divide. These are just to name a few. It will be an amazing race with so many endurance legends.

Other exciting race highlights:

  • We have new sponsors signing on daily to bring you some great swag and prizes, check then out on the Sponsor page… and remember support businesses that support racing
  •  We have a new racer tips page on the web site with articles from some of our endurance legends racers.
