Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race – Brevard, North Carolina

Stage 3 – Carl Schenck Loop

On another perfect day in North Carolina Sam Koerber (Verizon) took the win in front of Jeremiah Bishop (Cannondale) and Adam Craig (Rabobank/Giant). 

Koerber's second win of the race came on the shortest stage of the Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race outside Brevard, North Carolina. At just 25-miles Thursday's race was the shortest and fastest of the event.

Despite a finishing time of just under 2 hours Koerber was able to take back over 2 minutes of the time he lost to Bishop the day before. Adam Craig struggled with some mechanical issues throughout the day but still managed a third place finish.

While Jeremiah Bishop maintained his lead in the overall race for the Pisgah title, Koerber moved ahead of Craig into the runner-up spot.

Melanie McQuaid (Specialized) took her third stage win of the race once again out pacing Karen Potter (MTBRaceNews.com/zaboo29). McQuaid is comfortably in the lead for the Pisgah title if she avoids any catastrophes in the remaining two stages. 

The next two stages are the hardest of the 5-day stage race with treacherous terrain and tons of climbing the door remains open for just about anything to happen in these final two days of racing.
