BIGFOOT PRODUCTION RELEASES 2012 MOUNTAIN STATES CUP SCHEDULE INCLUDING STEAMBOAT SPRINGS AS NEW VENUE

Bigfoot Productions unveiled the 2012 Mountain States Cup Schedule, with six stops and one new venue—Steamboat Springs—in addition to Salida, Angel Fire, Crested Butte, Snowmass Village and Telluride.  The series will consist of one endurance stage race in Salida, a gravity only venue in Snowmass Village and four venues which will consist of cross country, downhill and super D.

"We have had the fortunate opportunity to showcase several locations in the Rocky Mountains the past several years, and this year we are focusing on bringing only the best tracks,” said Keith Darner, race director of the Mountain States Cup. "With fewer venues than the last couple years, racers will have a greater opportunity to compete for Series Overall titles.”

The series will kick off with MSC #1, Riverside Rampage (May 18-20) in Salida, Colo. with an early season off-road time trial, circuit race and cross country race on "S” Mountain. Then the gravity season starts with MSC #2, Chile Challenge (June 8-10) which will be part of the Pro GRT Series, bringing some of the best downhill talent in the country to compete on the infamous downhill tracks of Angel Fire Resort in Angel Fire, N.M. MSC #3, Wildflower Rush (June 22-24) highlights the Fat Tire 40 cross country race alongside downhill and super d in Crested Butte, Colo.

The latter half of the season includes MSC #4, Storm Peak Stampede (July 27-29) in Steamboat Springs, Colo. which will include completely new courses to the MSC. Steamboat Ski & Resort is working on a brand new downhill track that will be raced for the first time in the Mountain States Cup in 2012. MSC #5, Blast the Mass Gravity (August 3-5) will include only super d and downhill, and the series finale will take place at MSC #6, Full Tilt in Telluride (August 10-12) in Telluride, Colo.

"With the strong support of our consistent sponsors and a few new for 2012, we are excited to have one of the best seasons yet,” said Sarah Rawley, Bigfoot Productions Public Relations. "In addition to some of the best courses, we are excited to present more post-race entertainment and activities for the entire crew—racer, family and friends!”

All Mountain States Cup events will be qualifiers for the 2012/2013 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships. For detailed information on all events, visit www.racemsc.com
