Transylvanie Epic Drew Edsall Blog: Day 6

Posted by: Shannon Boffeli |June 24, 2013 2:08 AM

Fatigue hit pretty hard today. I was feeling really good moving my way up to 5th place about halfway into the stage and confident I would be able to take 3rd or 4th for the day. Then the legs gave in. Six days of racing beats up the body and it was just a matter of time. Happy to say tomorrow is the last day. My legs hurt with every step outside right now. Iím taking a little ibuprofen along with plenty of fluids, calories, and electrolytes to keep the body going.

With that being said, when the gun goes off tomorrow you can be sure that I will be putting whatever I have left down. I know there is a lot left in the legs itís just a matter of mind over body. My legs are very strong when I tell them the right things.

I ended up finishing a solid 5th place today.  Not bad. What is most frustrating, however, is my lack of gaining more points in the Enduro GC category. I was hoping to gain 2-3 points on my closest competitor, Derrek Bissett. I am still leading the GC, but have only three points on him which has been the trend for the last two days now. There is one Enduro stage tomorrow, and to keep the jersey I will need to finish 3rd or better. Iím confident I will as long as my equipment holds up as it has all week. The pressure is on to perform and I am up for the challenge. Bring it!

Thatís it for today. Nice and short as I am need of some solid rest and recovery before the last day of the race.

Thanks for reading and one more final update tomorrow,

Drew Edsall
